Because it’s Valentine’s season we’ll be discussing the theme of sexual intimacy this upcoming Sunday. I know there may be some who feel uncomfortable with that, but permit me a moment to cast vision for why we are doing this. Our culture bombards us with messages about sexuality constantly. We’re consistently hearing, seeing, and reading about how culture views sexual intimacy, but we seldom discuss how God views it. And even if we’ve heard it before, the message God has about sex is drowned out by a relentless flood of opposing messages from the world. This is why it’s imperative for the church to deliver these messages from time to time! And this message is not just for married adults; it’s especially important for singles and students.
In fact, if your kids are old enough that they’re hearing about sexual intimacy at school and from their friends, please consider having them join us this Sunday. We want to collaborate with you as a parent and reinforce the messages that you’re giving them already, and while this may be an awkward sermon for them, sometimes awkward conversations are the most important ones to have.
I’m also pleased to announce that our student ministry will be starting a three-week message series on the same types of issues. As a parent of middle-school students, I think it’s important that my kids hear from my wife and me first about how God views sex. However, I’m also very thankful to have others who will give their own unique voice and reinforce the same Biblical view of what God intended when he created sex.
Thanks for your support as we continue to unpack God’s model for healthy relationships.

NEW SERIES: “MADE” -A SERIES ABOUT SEXUAL INTEGRITY
When it comes to sex, we all have certain ideas and expectations of what it should—or shouldn’t—be about. But what if all those thoughts and ideas are actually missing the mark? In this three week series starting February 10, we take a look at God’s design for sex and discover that there’s more to it than we think. Parents, we want to partner with you in talking to your students on this sensitive topic. We encourage you to please contact Ryan Klug or Jeremy Thiess or see the Parent Cue (PDF) for more information about what this series is about to decide if you wish your student to hear these messages.
